Anthony Bettencourt, 63, passed away January 5, 2017, with his family by his side in Visalia, California.

Anthony was born September 22, 1953, in Visalia to Joe X. Bettencourt and Mary Mossa. He grew up in Pixley, CA where he lived on his family farm. He started his high school education at Tulare Union High School but graduated from Half Moon Bay High. In 1975, he married his wife, Zelia Oliveira Bettencourt and have been together for 41 years.

Anthony enjoyed coaching sports for St. Aloysius School where his children attended and for Tulare Youth Football. He also enjoyed participating and being a part of the committee for the Our Lady of Fatima Celebration in Tulare for many years. His ultimate joy in life was taking his grandchildren to Disneyland. He was a huge Disney fan. That truly was his happiest place on earth.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Zelia; son, Johnny; 2 daughters and their spouses, Maryann and João Tavares, Elizabeth and Rocky Cortez; 4 brothers and their spouses, Joe and Patty, Dennis and Rosemary, Mark and Filomena, and Steve Bettencourt; 4 grandchildren, Brianne, Michael, Malinda, and John; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe X. Bettencourt; his mother Mary Cullers; and brother Paul.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home, 151 North "H" Street, Tulare,

Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday, January 12, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 125 E. Pleasant Ave., Tulare, with burial at North Tulare Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.
